Idle position sensor
Anyone know where it's located on a 2001 5.4? Truck won't idle now that it's cold until it warms up. Thanks

It's not a sensor, it's an IAC (idle air control) valve and it's attached to the throttle body.

Pull it and clean it. Spray some WD-40 into it and work the plunger with a screwdriver till it moves freely. See if that helps.

Yea that's what I did it was dirty. Ford wanted 121.00 for a new one. I'll try it this morning after it cools down over nite. Thanks

Motorcraft IAC is $65.79 at rockauto.com, and a gasket is $1.11.

i have a 97 f150 4.9 liter doing the same thing,could that be my problem too?

I've used the autozone IAC for a few years now with no issues. seems like it was 39.95 or so..

it could be the throttle position sensor also.

Mine went out and it wouldn't idle well plus the jacked the transmission all up.

It's on the throttle body. Easy fix.

I've never seen a 1997 with a 4.9.

You have a 4.6L if you have a 97 bud
