Gonna paint my steel wheels black - semi gloss or flat?

I've decided I'm for sure going to paint my stock wheels black, but there are so many options on how to do it. Powder coating is out of the budget, so it's definitely gonna be the spray can. I've researched a ton, but I can't decide on a couple things. First off, my truck is white, and it's not exactly a "nice" looking truck. Not crap, but it was a work truck before I got it, so it's got some character, so to speak. That said, I don't think really shiny wheels would fit. But people have said flat black looks cheap and when it gets dirty looks terrible. Would satin black be better for me? I always thought the flat looked good, but then I never saw it dirty. And should I do Duplicolor or Rustoleum? Will Rustoleum hold up to the heat?

Thanks, as always, for help and opinions.

Have you thought of plasti dipping them? And if you don't want it too glossy I think a satin finish would be perfect.

I had never heard of plasti dip until I just got through reading a thread on here about a guy wanting to plasti dip his entire truck. Is that really a better option?

The black duplicolor wheel paint gives a nice satin finish. I've used it to do a few sets for people and it always came out great and lasted long.

My gosh. The more I look up about plasti dip, the more interested I get. Seems so much easier, and if I hate it, I can just peel it off. That might have to be the option right now. Thanks for the tip. And if that doesn't work, I'll probably go with your call, Buxton. Thanks y'all

agreed. PD is pretty simple, and if it messed up you just spray on a little touch up. Get tired of it, just peel it off...

just make sure the area is really clean, and dry. I think a good process is to wash, dry, then wipe down w/ some alcohol to remove any oils.

I'd go with the gloss. Personally I hate flat black
