45-50 psi on LT "E rated" tires?

If I run 45-50 psi on LT "E" tires will they still be alot rougher riding than P rated stock tires? I had LT "E" terra grapplers on my old truck and they beat me to death. I think I was running higher psi but I am not sure to be honest. I am so confused if I want to to go with Cooper AT3 P265/70/18(32.6") @ 43lbs each or LT275/70/18(33.10") # 56lbs each with my 2" leveling kit..

My Truck:
2011 SCREW 4x4
5.0
3.55 Gears

I recommend a lighter LT tire, like the Firestone Destination AT or Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo 2. Tire weight sucks performance.

Yes, they will run rougher no matter what you do, within reason. P rated tires are basicly car tires. E rated tires are heavy duty truck tires. Reinforced sidewall, most run to 80 psi.

If you are going to change tire size, you should seriously consider a tuner to be able to correct for the tire size difference. Shift points change, and you will miss the power loss.

Rinkey-dinkey tires on a leveled truck look retarded.

285/70/17 (overall stock height equivalent on bridgestone blizzak winter rubber)

295/70/18 Trail Grapplers

Unless you load your truck down a lot or pull a lot, E-range tires are a hard ride. I put E-range tires on my 04 F-150 and it might as well just been hard rubber casters instead of pneumatic tires I was running those @ 47psi.

Under a load they weren't bad, but unloaded, which is the majority of my miles, it was fairly rough.

I just put 275/70r18 BFG E rated tires on my 2" leveled F150. running 45 lbs air. The wheel I got is particularly light. The weight is about 4lbs heavier then the stock wheel/tire setup.

What was your wheel weight?

What does the stock wheel and tire weigh?

I ordered the same size tires as you and some rims and I'm interested to see the weight comparo.

I think the BFGs weigh 57 lbs? Stock SR-A Goodyears weigh 39 lbs?

I just can't deal with a highway tire.

Also, I just sold my 03 Cummins and only ran 48-50 lbs in the front and 42 lbs in the rear with E rated 35s.

I was thinking like 35 psi in the BFGs on my new FX4 F150.

Well I am going to stay with the 32.6" tire. Even though I really like the 275/70/18 look I am hoping the 1/2" difference will not make a big difference. The tire is rated for 2,750lbs so it will be more than enough for what I tow and I want to keep a good ride but have a better A/T tire. It is getting done on Friday so I will try and post pics that afternoon but LSU/Bama play saturday so not sure if I will get around to until next week.

Geaux Tigers!!!

I put Michelin LTX MS tires on my 03 5.4 screw. They are LT tires and ride just like the passenger tires that came on the truck.

I know the Michelin are great tires but I need something more aggressive for hunting.

While I haven't run any yet, I would look into the Firestone Destination AT as someone mentioned above. I researched a lot of tires and these look like a very good tire with great survey ratings.

Sorry, I just realized you weren't asking for suggestions on other brands, and you already decided on the Cooper AT3. That's a great tire too.
