2004 F150 had Transmission Rebuilt, Now Idles Rough
How's it going everybody? I just got my truck back yesterday after my reverse went out and I had to have the tranny rebuilt. As soon as I backed up at the shop and I put it in gear and gave it gas to leave I noticed the truck hesitating, but they were closing as I was leaving so I figured I'd go drive it some more before I complained.
Whenever I'm going 40+ and then I come to a complete stop my rpms dip down to around 200 and the truck shutters a bit and then the rpms fluctuate while I'm stopped going from 200-400. When I brought the truck in it always idled at a constant 400 no matter what.
The lady I talked to claimed that what they did to the truck doesn't mess with the idle but then I explained to her when I brought the truck in it wasn't like that and I refuse to pay somebody to screw up my truck more than it already is.
I'm getting ready to take it back over there and I would like to know what I'm talking about before I get screwed over. Thanks for the help guys!

Well it turns out they were sent a low-rpm torque converter instead of a high-rpm torque converter so according to the shop this is the reason why my rpm's are so low. I believe I'll be going somewhere else next time since they didn't think to check over everything before they wasted their time and mine by rebuilding my tranny with the wrong part.

I am getting the new torque converter installed tomorrow since I needed my truck today and couldn't afford to have it sitting in the shop. Hopefully tomorrow is the last time I have to visit this place but I have a feeling I'll be returning based on what others have told me about the place.
