Question 1997 f250 351

okay im thinking about buying an f250 with the 5.8L 351 engine and its all stock. (owned by old man since new and has all service records) The only problem with me is that when i look it up online the 1997 351 engines only have 210HP at the CRANK thats less than my 98 4.6 F150 (220HP). So before i buy it what are some good ways to get the truck to like 250-300HP at the wheels

Thanks

It might be only 210 horsepower but the horses in a 351 are alot bigger than in the 4.6.
Seriously, that should be a good strong truck. You can do basic upgrades like an air intake and a good exhaust that will help a bit.

yeah i know that the 351 is tons better than that little 4.6 but i want moderate horsepower out of it like 250RWHP would seem very easy to get to

It's an old school motor... You're gonna have to do old school tricks to get power. Intake, exhaust, maybe a cam, etc. There's no "tuning" this beast...

For sure. Not even sure if the 3/4 ton+ trucks got MAF. I know the 460s didn't.

Why do you need 250HP? I bet it out torques your lil car motor in a 150.

What is the miles on it? Be wary that the Dana 50 TTB front end is a little more costly to redo and align than a F350's Dana 60.
