Hi all...I have a 2006 F150 Harley with about 60,000 miles on it. Since I have owned this truck, it falls on its face under heavy acceleration such as passing. The truck is bone stock with factory intake.
Runs great otherwise during normal driving.
No codes thrown ever.

Remedies I've tried:
New fuel filter
New MAF
New plugs
Fuel system serviced at dealer
Dealer said PCM needed to be reflashed,which they did-this did nothing whatsoever
Checked and rechecked for vacuum leaks-none found

I otherwise love this truck and would appreciate any help.

Programmer with custom tunes.

 

A custom tune would be better, but to get rid of the hesitation, even a canned tune will do it. I had a terrible hesitation that could have gotten me killed on a two lane road.

 

BTW, welcome to the site. You could have saved a lot of headache and dollars had you come here first!

 

I actually started to go that route from the beginning, but I couldnt imagine that Ford had built this hesitation into my truck on purpose, so I wanted it fixed.

I guess I'll look into that today and get back with results.

Can't beat a tune. I took out all the off idle problems and tuned in more response at low end. Hard to take off in 1st with the road damp. Oh and I got rid of that fuel shutoff during coast down to.

Has any one looked into the operation of the VVT on the engine?

 

Update:

Finally received and installed my Edge programmer, took care of the hesitation and really woke the truck up. It didnt do anything for fuel mileage like I was hoping, but overall is well worth the money.

Ihate you spent all that money and effort to correct something a tune will fix. You should have asked here first! It is crazy that Ford detunes them so much that acanned tune will make it a different driving truck. I too did not get any more mpg but neither did I lose and considering how much better it runs, that is enough.

 

Bluejay, what tuner did you go with? I put an exhaust and intake on my truck like two years ago but never tuned it and it still feels like if it bogs down when I hit the gas to switch gears. Will a tuner fix this?

 

If you put an intake on a 3v, you NEED a custom tune. You are running lean.

 

Glad I did some searching before I went to the dealer. I plan on ordering an edge programmer here really soon. I am hoping that will help things out. Under normal driving the truck is great, even half throttle acceleration. But, when I put it to the tin, it almost seems like it is running too lean and studders. I replaced the fuel filter... no help there. But the edge will be here soon and glad I searched the good ole' internet. This forum is great and I will be on it frequently.

 

Sorry, I'm so late, just saw this. I started out with the Edge and ran it for 31,000 on Level 3. Thought I was satisfied and then got talked into custom tunes from PHP. I have 61,000 miles on an 87 Perf tune and would hate to go back to the Edge canned tunes.

 

Wait a minute... you mean to tell me that the hesitation in the upper RPMs is BY DESIGN!!?? REALLY??? This just happened to me on the way home (happened in the past, but I never tried it again). Anyway, I was driving doing about 35mph. So I put the pedal to the floor and it started hesitating really badly, then the check engine light came on. I let off the gas and it spit and sputtered for a few seconds and then returned to normal and the check engine light went off and off I rode into the sunset..
Man.. why would Ford do this??

BTW- I have a 2005 lariat

 

THAT is not normal. you may want to look into it
