My new Ecco Boost

My new F150 4X4 arrived yesterday Feb 8, 2011. The good--It is so quiet. I love the shift points, 1300-1500 while loafing. Great torque. The steering and handeling are great. I have been waiting for something to come along and give me a better truck than my 2004 Duramax. Now the bad Hmmmm. I left the dealership and drove 70 straight miles, flat road, tail wind, set cruise at 60. The lie-o-meter never showed over 17.2. When I drove the demmo at Fargo before new years, the drivers were telling me they were seeing 29-30. O K. I guessed that this new engine would be a game changer for Ford. I am selling my Ford stock this morning.
Update:
I posted this thread because the day before I picked up my new truck I scoured the internet looking for a buyers first impressions. NOT ONE anywhere. I was upset when I did read the sticker, but I thought, What the Heck I will give it a try. Its been a week and about 500 miles. I do like it very much. My first fill doing the math came up to 18.4 mpg. Going for a trip today and will fill again and see where that puts me. I have had probably 15 new 1/2-3/4 ton trucks. My first fill has usually been about as good as it gets. I laugh when anybody says (especially a salesman) Oh it will get about twice as good of mileage when It gets BROKE IN. Probably not, but gets you off HIS back. I say again- Its not a game changer. I found it interesting that it was only about 700 bucks higher that a standard engine. Game changer would have been thousands higher. I am just trying to be helpful and call it like I see it. Hope I don't hurt anybody else's feelings.

Is this a joke? I know you are really expecting full on MPGs when you have a brand new truck....How many miles you got on it...100?

Damn, yea give it some time dude. Let that engine wear in some first, sheesh! But yea, if you went and paid all that money on a new F150 JUST to expect getting 30mpg on the road out the door, then yea, you definitely got another thing coming.

This post can't be serious...

Just by hearing your economical reasoning about your Ford stock because your ecoboost is getting 17mpg makes me think you are.... well,

Those retarded salesmen didn't know what they were saying. The had one thing in their mind when they told you that, "This commission will be great!"

A new Ecoboost I can see getting around 25-26 once people crack the code and begin tuning them.

Until then, you won't see 30 mpg from that truck unless you are going down hill in a hurricane force tail wind in neutral.

Never expect to see what you'd want to see. 17.2 mpg sounds reasonable. My truck gets 17-20 mpg and it's got an engine that is from the late 90's.

Plus my truck is more fun... it's standard shift.

like you said, it is a LIE-o-meter. There is a good reason we call it that. Why do you suddenly believe it?

And more importantly, why did you believe a professional lie-er (salesman) when he was referencing the Lie-o-meter, while he was trying to sell you something? In this case, two negatives do not make a positive...

1st of all: Start taking mileage estimates (the old fashion way) after about 1000 miles. Are you one of those people we see at the dealership asking why their 1996 f250 still doesnt have warranty??

Heck, my truck didn't start getting decent mileage until after 5-10 K
Started out with a record of 15 mpg, not I can get 18 relatively easy.

Patience young grasshopper.
