So I replaced my plugs and coils on my 05 5.4 triton v8. On cylinder 2 the top of the ignition coil busted. It's cracked at the bottom of connector on both sides and I can wiggle it slightly side to side. I attached a picture of where it is cracked. Is this going to be a problem? Do I have to go buy another coil? The truck runs fine right now.

 

There's no fix for that. If the connection is secure, I don't see why you wouldn't, but if it's not, common sense would be...

 

If your trucks running fine with it cracked. Your OK for now.
If you have a problem later,,,check that one first.
It may start giving you problem in the rain or under wet conditions.

Be sure and save your old ones. You could put one back on if needed.

 

have you tried to get it replaced from where you bought the coils? should be fine but if you just bought them i would ask for a replacement

 

Epoxy it, that will keep moisture out. As the crack expands it will allow moisture to accumulate and fry the coil.

 

My worries exactly. I am going to get a new one under the warranty.
