gas mileage and lift ? on 99 f150

ok i have a stock 99 f150 with 33s. ive been reading on here with a lift and 35s people are getting better gas mileage is that true? im planning on getting it chipped , dual exhaust and intake but if a lift and 35s also help ill do that to. so just wondering if that is true like ive read.

also what chip is better edge or super chip?

Haha no a lift and larger tires will not make your gas mileage better. However if you choose the right gearing, this will improve gas mileage.

ok these are from other f150 site

they do make wheel spacers that would move your wheels and tires further out. Also, i actually saw an increase in my MPG when i went from 33's to the 35's i have now. I have the stock 3.73 gears with the 5.4. I get approx. 20 MPG highway as opposed to the say 18 MPG highway i

The 5.4 has plenty of power to push the larger tires, especially if you have performance mods (Intake, Chip, Exhaust) so your gas shouldnt go down a whole lot

The larger tire should even get better gas milage on the highway due to all the E=mx2 blah blah blah stuff unless you go to a huge tire.

basically it comes down to less revolutions so the engine is working less to get you there. Make sure ur speedo is calibrated though or you wont get accurate hand calcs.

My buddy has an FX2 and he put 20"s on his, his city stayed the same but his highway went up to 19.5

He has a flowmaster 40 and Edge evolution tuner

I have a supercharged 4.6 with 35s and 4:56s gearing and my truck averages 14-15 mixed driving. I pulled 18mpg once going from SA to richmond. 308 miles one way.. all highway.

A 35 is a heavier tire and larger rotating mass, which will take more fuel to move them. And the 5.4 does have plenty of power for a 35 but is always recommended to re gear to keep the power where its needed. You will notice, as anyone... with a 35 vs your stock tires a decrease in power or a bit more sluggish off the line. You can just feel it. You can go to a lift and 35's and re gear.. you could see the same mileage as you had before but I don't see where just "lifting it and putting 35's" will yield better mileage. Again, with the right mods, you can be lifted on 35's and get better mileage than some, if you have the gears and supporting mods to do it. Also depends on whether you are 2wd or 4wd

The SC and gears are helping out a bit Take those guys off and there would be a dramatic decrease

The guy that told you he has 35's with stock gears and was getting 20 mpg must have been either bad at math or someone was pouring gas in his tank when he wasn't looking. haha
