Hey all.
I need some help pls!!! Ive searched all over this forum and many others with no answer except im SOL or there hard to find. Ok I have a 99 f150 and I also have a military tire depo close to the house. So id like the start getting tires there for 4 wheelin. The delema is that I need to find some steel wheels to do so but cant seem to find them in a 16.5 with 5 x 135mm bolt pattern???!!! I just like to know if someone has seen them before and where. I know "go to a 16" or 17" wheel thats better". I just for once need someone to give me some good info! Where the *%&$ can I find these wheels someone pls help me. Im at my wits end!!!!!!!!!

 

Manufacturers have been phasing out 16.5 inch wheels for a while. Now the 5x135mm bolt pattern wheels are being phased out so that's just gonna make it tougher.
Also, using 16.5 inch wheels for four wheeling is a bad idea. The problem with the 16.5 inch wheel is it has a poor bead design. When aired down for off roading, loosing a bead is gonna be very easy.

Yes I know that 16.5 ain't the greatest for off roadin but we don't do anything major around here and with such a large supply so redally excessible to me in military tires I'd really like to figure this problem out. 16.5 do have a bad tendency to slip off like you said I was thinking that if I got some beadlockers that would solve that problem? And was thinking if I got some wheel spacers that would change the bolt pattern from a 5x135mm to 5x5.5 would solve my problem. Or spacers that would change the 135mm to another more used bolt pattern. Or am I thinking way out of the box? I don't want to damage anything. I've already spent alot of money on updating the lift kit and replacing worn out pieces on this front supension. But anyone that can give me more info it would be appreciated. Keep it coming!!! I'm not a fan of wheel spacer/adaptors. I just wanted you to get an idea of the total cost involved in what you want. You don't want to spend a ton of money so you can use a low cost tire.

 

To right to right brother. But the six million dollar question is stillin play lol. In all of the millions of pages on the Internet surely someone makes a steel wheel 16.5 in a 5x135mm bolt pattern but where? Lol

 

Steel wheels and a 16.5??? Good luck. Wandell is right. This will be a hard find. Also, you may find tires now for the 16.5 wheels, but I doubt they will be available in the near future, which means time for new wheels again. All I can say is start searching the internet for that needle in a hay stack.

 

ive seen a few sets of eagle alloy 16.5" wheels around here. theyre out there but used imo

 

Also, some companies custom drill bolt patterns on wheels.

 

idk what size lift you have but i know the military used tires for 16in. wheels too. the only downside is they're 38x11's

 

Hey dilloncawthon I have a 99 f150 she's got a six inch trailmaster suspension lift and a three inch body lift. So 9 inches total and I've seen couple guys with the same setup run 39s. I've got 16 x 8 on there right now. Where have you seen 16 inch military tires? I've never seen them before. I think with 9 inches of lift I could run 38 x 11.

 

Oh yeah you could definitely run 38s. I think they are michelin xmls. I know they are made by michelin. Ive got a set on my k5 blazer now

 

I figured I could run them. I found some on wartires.com for $1100 with 90% tread. Do you know of anywere else that sells them for maybe a better price? They sound like great tires.

 

i haven't looked much but usually military tires are way cheaper than that. another good looking tire is the 325/85/r16 xmls but it seems kind of hard to find. its like a 38.5in. tire. id call a few places like stazworks that deals with those tires.

 

The ones on wartires.com were the xmls. I cant seem to find them anywhere. I guess they are hard to find awesome looking tire though. Il try stazworks. If anyone knows where to find the xmls let me know pls.

 

Hey back to the original topic of trying to find somewhere that sells a 16.5 inch wheel with a 5x135mm bolt pattern for the f150 ive done it!!!! www.4wheelparts.com has one set of pro comps. Heres the link for them just incase someone else wants a set.
