Flashing airbag indicator light

Flashing airbag indicator light
'94 F-150. The airbag indicator light on the dash flashes in a sequence. 3 flashes, 2 flashes, a short pause, and then it repeats. At the same time this began, horn and cruise control became inoperative. Any ideas except paying ford a bundle for computer analysis?

The sequence of flashing lilghts you have means "Driver Side Air Bag Circuit High Resistance or Open". Did you take the column apart or any thing in the area? You truck being a '94, the steering column has seen a lot of turning and the sliding contact for the airbag could have built up some resistance, dust build up or is totaly open.

I will try to attach the steering wheel removal and replacement instructions in this post and the sliding contact replacement in the next one. I don't know if I can attach word docs but I will try. If not e-mail me at ronsouthern23@hotmail.com and I will e-mail them to you.

I have just replaced the "clockspring " in my 1994 F150. It is a fairly simple proceedure if you follow directions! Do not attempt to do this job if you do not have a good quality steerind wheel puller, also, be careful not to set off the air bag! Took me about an hour to fininsh.

I looked under the 2002 F-150 and code 47 means "Passenger Pretensioner Circuit Resistance High or Low", if it is above 3.2 or below 1.7 ohms you will get the light. Let the dealer fix it, if you have the air bag in the seat it could be that system or just the seat belt pretensioner, but the seat must come out to fix it.
