Reset Oil Change Counter

I just had my oil changed on saturday and on the way home the change oil soon message came up. Freaking idiots didn't reset it. On top of all that they didn't use fender covers either. So I had oily hand prints on my fenders. Oil running down the drivers door handle. WTF? This is something I would think suitable from a grease shop NOT the dealership.

Anyway, is there a way to reset that stupid thing?

Apparently you are. Probably took you the same amount of time to type a worthless comment as it would to answer the question.

Let's start over.

Yes, there is a way to reset the oil change counter. The procedure can be found in your owner's manual. If you don't have the manual, it can be downloaded from the Ford website.

Is that better?

I scrolled to the oil life indicator and held the re-set button. It went back to 100%.
Di-int read the manual, neither.

The so called 'Techs' tried telling me that it re-set itself according to miles traveled.

Seems as tho the 'Techs' could benefit from reading the manual, too.

At the risk of getting flamed, I use synthetic oil. I see the way to lower your oil life from 7,500. Is there a way to raise it to 15,000?

At present, I do reset the life to 100% then to 60%, but I'd rather it just come on when needed.

No select/reset stem oil reset procedure

I'm sure people get tired of answering questions that are in the manual, but some people may not know it's in the manual or don't have one. In any case, I read the procedures and thought it was way more complicated than it should be.

I mean, the forums are here to help people, show some patience.

Thanks Joe, but I have my manual. However, your link may help those folks that don't. I just thought the point of the forums were to try and help those folks that need help. Imagine you're trying to configure a router and you're having problems with the QoS settings and you post to a forum and they tell you to read the proper Cisco manual. Just because you (figuratively, not calling you out) know everything about vehicles doesn't mean everybody does.

I think a cool feature is the ability to adjust the reminder down, so if you forget, and drive a bunch of miles, you can manually set it correctly (within 10% increments of course)...
