switched power wire for Headunit

switched power wire for Headunit
Does any one know what color the switched power lead is for the head unit? I want to tap into that and use it for a remote wire for my amp. I know i could add a fuse but if I already have access to the head unit for speaker connections why go through more work.

This is for a 2008. I'm not sure what the difference is between an 08 and a '10, but hell it may help. See if theres a light green/yellow wire back there somewhere.

There is not one for a 2010 non nav. I just went through this a month ago. I tested every single wire going into the HU and not one of them was hot with the key on. So I tapped into a wire on the fuse box down on the passenger kick panel. Found one there and it works ok. Just doesn't play after you turn the key off like it used to.

Be warned that the side of the fuse box and cover have to be "Modified" for the add a fuse to work. Wire dikes worked well for me.

yes. Passenger kick fuse box. fuse 41. To make an add a fuse work you have to slightly modify the cover and side of the fuse box.
Now, if fuse 41 works then there must be a wire coming out of the fuse panel that is also hot with ACC. I read that the blue wire in the bundle coming out is hot until the door is open but I swear there were 5 or 6 blue wires in there. I didn't feel like probing and the add-a-fuse was easy.

The add a fuse can be purchased at Auto zone or pep boys for $7 to $10 dollars. I had to purchase a fuse for mine but it also came with a crimp already connected to the lead. It took all of about 10 minitues to install, cut the fuse panel lid and side of the box (use a pair of dikes, the plastic almost snaps off when you snip it) and run the remote wire. Much easier then the old days of getting to the back of the radio to install remote wire.
