1999 F150 Xlt
Strongly considering buying a 99 F150 XLT tomorrow. The truck has 81000KM and has the 4.6L V8. After a test drive the truck seemed very tight and quite capable as a daily driver. No bad noises and everything worked the way it should.
Are there specific things I should look at before signing anything? Door cracks?
Any issues with the 4.6?
What sort of maintenance schedule will I be looking at with this truck?
How does Ford generally treat issues?
Is their customer service good? Fair?
It's going for just less then $20000 at the Ford dealership. Is this a good price?
Thanks for any tips/advice!

20k sounds a little much for the amount of miles. in july i picked up my '99 XLT 5.4 40k miles for $20,000 at a Ford dealer. this is in miami, fl. maybe trucks are a little more expensive where you live.
haven't had any issues aside from a heater problem i'm trying to fix myself.
i think i got a good truck for a great price. it took about two months to find it. i shopped around like crazy and most of the trucks (used) i saw had high miles and high prices. good luck.

I bought my truck a year ago May and it only had 8500 km on it. I paid just under 20 as well. I'd say with those klicks you should be able to go lower on price. Mine is a STX and had the boxliner, sliding rear window, buckets and was fully tinted when I picked it up. I got it in Ottawa. Where are you located?

The price worked out well because we were given a good trade in value on a beaten old Aerostar.
Any thoughts on the other questions I posed?
Delivery is Thursday. Happy with the purchase. Took a 2000 Windstar out for a drive - never would I even remotely consider such a thing. Not hauling people just stuff and dogs , so the pick up is just as practical.
Thiis truck as the sliding rear window, quality bedliner, it's a flareside, and is immaculately clean. It also comes with rain delfectors and a stone deflector (I know they're not worth much but they're Ford original parts and already there...)
I'm in Burlington, ON.

Hi ions
My '99 still doesn't have any door cracks, that's an individual truck type thing.
The 4.6L has the least gripes of the available engines, relatively speaking.
I follow the maintenance guide in the owners manual.
Dealerships are all up and down the spectrum customer service wise.
Thought you weren't picking it up till Thursday?
Hit the rear rear slider hard with a water hose, both sides, along the top. Check for leaks inside.
('99 was the best year, IMHO)

Is it a 4x4? Extended cab? If so, I'd say you got a deal. I recently bought a '98 XLT 4x4 ext cab with 69K kms & I paid $22,800. I shopped hard for that truck and it was a great deal. So if you got one a year newer for less than $20k, you did OK.
The 4.6 is a great engine. Don't go trying to pull your 10,000 lb horse trailer around with it or anything, but I find mine plenty powerful enough and still reasonable on gas ( just over 20 mpg Hwy). Search out info on this site, there's tons of it. Good luck..
