GT500 Supercharger on a 97-04 Navigator Engine

So The Early Navigators are 5.4L 4v's Can they Stock GT500 supercharger be used? or will i need to swap intake manifolds and heads?

If this isn't possible then Iam gonna look into the route of getting a 97-02 Expedition with the 5.4L 2v and put the Lightning/Harley S/C on. or if 03's are cheap enough Ill look into a Whipple.

This would be my daily driver once I get the money to buy a truck, Iam seeing alot of GT500 superchargers pop up for super cheap, no more then 600 bucks I am seeing them for.

I looked all over for info and couldn't find anything related.

We will start with the 4V navi engine first. You will need the blower, intake, hoses, pulley bridge, other pulleys, and sensors. After that the intake ports and bolt holes from the GT500 lower do not match up perfect with the Navi head intake ports. So this will have to be addressed. Can it be done? Yes. Probly looking at $5K or so unless you can do all the work yourself when all is said and done.

Ok the 2V. There is a company called Tork Tech that makes adapter kits to run the 03-04 Cobra blower (M112) on 2V engines. I have talked to them and they said yes the kits can be made to fit 5.4L very easily.

Thanks man, If i went with the expedition, Id just use the stock lightning/eaton blower, what's the difference between the Lightning/Harley blower as opposed to the Cobra Blower?

If i wanted to on the Navigator, swap over to Ford GT/GT500 heads?

I am pretty sure both are Eaton M112 but the lightning blowers inlet comes in the top and the Cobra's blower comes in the passenger side and into the back. Not a big deal in a truck but like in a mustang to run a lightning setup you have to have a whole in the hood. With the cobra setup you do not.

You can do the GT500 swap on the navi but you will still need all the parts for the pulleys and what not. The GT500 heads are the best flowing heads that Ford makes so you can make some serious power with that swap.

All the combos are possible its just what do you want to spend and what is your end goal. I am looking at doing Ford GT/GT500 heads on a 4.6L Block. So all can be done.

true, I don't really want to put to much money into either truck, cause its gonna be a beater vehicle anyway.

IF you are planning on using the GT500 M122 you'll need the Gt-500 heads, intake/intercooler assembly, crossover bridge etc

basically the parts off of the Gt500 like the 2 valve swap requires off of the lightning/harley trucks

I'm not 100% on how the gt500 drives the supercharger but i do know it uses a 10 rib belt drive

there's a thread where a guy swapped in the entire Gt500 motor, maybe he can offer you some pointers

like the pulley cross over bridge used on the lightning/harley trucks and cobras

but honestly I have no idea what the pulley system is like on the gt500's and I have no desire to go with a 32 valve swap

Yea gotcha, That's why Iam leaning towards the 5.4L 4v already in the Navigator. I couldnt imagine it costing more then a couple of grand for all the parts, and most of them are cheap, the only real expensive thing I see is the heads.

GT heads 3G for both
S/C 4-700 at most
Intercooler maybe another 1-200
Pulleys etc.

Mike Dunn has a 32 valve navigator based motor in his creation, and he used a terminator cobra lower intake manifold (heavily modified)
