Hi,
I just got a new (to me) Ford F150. It is a 2005 Lariat 4x4. It is pretty loaded. The dealer put on 20" rims and 32 inch tires on those. From there I measured 9" from the tire to the fender. Can anyone tell me how much lift I have from that?

I'm coming from a Jeep ( CJ7 ) background. I can just look at a jeep and tell you what is on it. This is all so new to me. I have to say I'm LOVIN this truck. My ONLY gripe is the steering wheel feels to far forward. I like my seat back and like to drive with my arms on the rests. I'll eventually find my seat setting sweet spot.

It has a rhino liner. Did ford ever do that from the factory or from the dealer? This one also has one of those bed cages that flip over with the tailgate down.

 

Welcome. the liner is a dealer installed option just the same as if you took the truck to a liner shop. no difference.

youd probably have to post up some pics and pics of the top of the front stuts and youll have an answer almost immediately

 

sounds like it just has a leveling kit on it. and yeah pics would help out big time and congrats on the new truck man! this site will help you become broke or in debt!! just a fair warning!!!

 

Thanks for the input. I'll get some pics tonight when I get home. I am feeling the pinch already. This truck and just about everything I wanted: heated leather seats, and a sunroof. I'm upgrading the radio and putting monitors in the headrests now. This site looked like the best forum, what magazines does anyone recommend? I went at lunch and saw Peterson's was still being published. There was a truck magazine, but it looked like mostly low rider types. That isn't my taste.

Definitely a leveling kit. Not sure how much but it looks like a 2.5in.

 

Here's a crazy, lane brain idea...go measure a stock truck and compare it to yours!! That's waaaaay out there I know, but worth a shot.

Also, for lifts, you need to measure from the center of the hub up to a center spot on the fender, not from the top of the tire. Compare your truck in this spot to a stock one and it'll tell you how much lift you have, not just a guestimate.

Did the 4x4's come from the factory with any lift? If so I'd need to make sure I measure against a 4x4, and not a 2x4.

 

The truck has a 2 or 2 1/2 inch leveling kit. You can tell plain as day in the 2nd picture.

No, the 4x4's don't come with a "lift", but due to slight differences in the suspensions, they do sit about 2 inches taller than the 4x2's.
And yes, your truck has a leveling kit installed.

 

So does this mean the lifts on the fx4's were put on by the dealership or at the factory?
