Tire Size For 20x9's

Wondering what I can get away with for tires on a 20X9 rim. I have an '09 4X4 XLT, I would like a bigger tire but I am unsure about leveling. Anyone have any suggestion on what I should do? Right now i'm looking at 305/50-20. The next step up would be 305/55-20 which is a 33X12.5. Can I get away with a 33X12.5 with no level? I do not want any rubbing issues or have to trim anything. Thanks for any help.

not sure if the 305-55-20 will fit cuz i've heard of guys on here who experienced rubbing even with the level kit. I got 275/65/20 bfg's (34.1 inches tall) and they don't rub at all, but i have a 2 inch level kit

The problem is the width right. So if I want a 33x12.5 tire i'm gonna have to go with a lower offset so the tire is farther away from the mechanical stuff (yes that's a technical term).

The answer depends on the backspacing of your wheels. If it's 5 to 6 inches you will be fine at stock height with a 305/55-20. If it's 4.5 inches you will probably have to do some trimming.

305/55/20...barely any rubbing with -12 offset 20x9 wheels. just trim a little inch or so of plastic. pics on gallery. and there are plenty of others with this setup.

I have 305/55/20 on 20x9s with 4.5 backspacing and they did rub on the backside of the fender just took some triming.. I also have a 2.5 in leveling kit.
This may give you a little ideal how they will look.

I believe the backspacing is 6.38" and offset of +35 mm.

They should fit easily then. The OEM wheels are 8.5 inches wide with 6.5 inches of backspacing to give you an idea of the look.

Would 285/50R20 on XD797 Spy Rims -12 Offset 4.53 Backspace fit my 06 Screw with no lift or leveling kit without rubbing?
Or would i even be able to go bigger? if so what size?

I'd go with at least a 285/55-20 tire.
