Backspacing?
Backspacing?
I am looking to buy 16x10 or 16x8 MT Classic locks. What does the backspacing have to do with the setup of that? I have no idea what backspacing means or is, or how it will effect my truck?
Can yall please explain to me what it is, and if i need to be careful with buying anyone of those wheels?

In short, offset is another measure of how far the wheels are "pushed out" or "sucked in". A negative offset pushes the wheel/tire out away from the truck while a positive offset sucks the wheel/tire in towards the truck.
Hope that makes sense. If not, this should help you out a little. I'm sure others will jump in and clarify if you have any additional questions.

lol Indo he asked about backspacing.
anywho Backspacing is just the distance from the hub mounting surface to the lip of the wheels measured in inches. its the same as offest just measured differently. a low backspacing will make the wheels stick out farther.

it depends what wheels are you looking at. each kind of wheel has its on backspacing/offset combinations. also we need to know if the trucks lifted or anything.
Mickey Thompson Classic locks 16x10 or 16x8, lift on the truck is a 3" PA Body lift, with a 6" SkyJacker susp lift.

ok well with that big of a lift you're probably running some wide tires so the 16x10 would be best. what size tires are you wanting to run? from looking at Mickey Thompsons site those wheels only come in 4.5in. backspacing which is good for a lifted truck and will stick out really far.

oh yeah then you're good. yeah 4.5in backspacing is what most people run with suspension lifts and should look good.
A 10 inch wide wheel with 4.5 inches of BS isn't gonna stick out really far on a 97-03. That is what I have and my tire/wheel is just about even with the edge of my fender flares. I have more pics in my gallary.
:oSorry COPASS. I have no idea why I read it as offset instead of backspacing.
lol my bad then i was thinking it was almost the same as my body style. the 97-03's must have a very low BS stock.
