Need Help choosing Alarm/Remote Start
I had already posted this in Electrical systems but now realize that is the wrong forum so now I am posting it here.
I was looking into getting a remote start and/or alarm for my truck I found these two and they are the same price if you could please help me decide which is better?

I KNOW YOUR TRYING TO GET A GOOD SECURITY/AUTO START FOR YOUR TRUCK AND ONE THAT WONT BREAK THE BANK, BUT YOUR BEST BET IS TO GO WITH SOMEONE THATS RELIABLE, LIKE VIPER THEY HAVE BEEN IN THE BUISNESS A LONG TIME AND THATS GOTTA BE FOR A GOOD REASON! THE 5901 OR 5902 IS THE NEWEST SYSTEM AND PROBABLY EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT. OK! ITS WHAT I WANT ALSO! THERE CHEAPER ON EBAY BUT THERE STILL A LITTLE PRICEY! BUT I THINK ITS WORTH IT! ORDERING MINE SOON! JUST GO TO WWW.VIPER.COM DONT LOOK AT THERE PRICE UNLESS YOU WANT TOTAL SECURITY IN PURCHASING THE EXACT PRODUCT FROM THERE COMPANY! CHECK OUT THE SYSTEM AND LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK! NO! I DONT WORK FOR VIPER! IM IN THE MILITARY AND MONEY IS ALWAYS TIGHT! LOL!

Im afraid as much as I want the viper 5901 and as much as I do like viper products I just think I may go with the autostart as-6450 because it is a starter/alarm combo where the viper 5301 is just a starter. What do you guys think of the autostart as 6450?

Viper 5701 is their cheaper alarm/keyless/rstart.
Fordfanatic, they arent really "hard" but if you dont really know what your doing, you can definitely screw some stuff up pretty easily. If you have any doubt on it, id recommend taking to a professional. Its not as simple as something like a headunit.

I'm about to get me a Viper alarm for my 07 F150, There is nothing overly special about my F150, it's nice, but not a show piece by any means, but I still got hit by a scumbag Sunday Dec 6th that busted my window for no reason, he took nothing, because I had nothing in it to take.. still he busted my window and cost me $200.
I bought and installed under the eve of my house, an outdoor motion detector that rings a doorbell in my bedroom when anyone or anything moves by my Truck, I have my 870 loaded with Trip BBB's set by my back door and a hip-bag with a set of handcuffs, 8 very thick zip ties, a cell phone, a bright flashlight and extra ammo for my 12ga and my 45ACP.. I'm ready for them when they return! God help em if they are armed!!
God help em if I catch them armed or not!!
I will prob go with the 5901 for my truck, What I really need is a good alarm with a top notch glass break sensor that will sound if just tapped with a key!! and the key-less feature to replace my ford remote(don't want to have to have 2 remotes on my key chain!!) and I might like the remote start feature for those really cold mornings! I'll most likely go with the 5901! BUT
Is it possible to install it all myself?? to save a couple hundred bucks? I found one on Ebay for $217 shipped to my door. The cheapest installed price I found is $399.. I'll pay $200 for an alarm, but not no $400!!
I'm no dumba#$% I can read and follow directions and I'm of at least average intelligence, probably higher than many of the installers out there! I installed a good alarm on my 88 Mustang GT back in the 80's and it worked great until I sold it in 2001. I usually fix anything and everything myself rather than paying someone to do something that I can do myself and or waisting good money that I could spend on something else. I would much rather install the system myself if I don't have to have an electrical degree to do so?!?!
Is installation of the 5901 pretty strait forward with good directions or is it very complicated where I would be better off paying an installer or going with a cheaper system? ~~~Spending $400 on an alarm is not going to happen.
Thanks,,

Okay. first of all, your not paying $400 or whatever for the alarm. Your paying $400 for the alarm and the labor. Our labor for a Rstart/keyless/alarm like the 5901 is $200. Not to mention you need an immobilizer bypass as well. your right, they are not cheap, and neither is the labor, but it is no easy task, quick task like a headunit is. If there is any doubt in your head that you may not want to do it, take it to a professional. Dont risk breaking/frying something in your truck and end up costing yourself more money.
