im looking to install some ford racing cams anyone running these likes/dislikes?

 

To high in the RPM band for our trucks to take advantage of.

Replace with some good internals, and wind our engines to 6500 or so they might be good.

 

So more the less installing them are going to just get u the sound

It will help 4200rpm and up, which isn't much before we shift. Not sure if it hurts any at all down low or not.

 

I talked to blow by racing earlier and they said they won't hurt any he said they have heard from other shops that they give around 38 extra hp because the displacement is bigger in the 5.4 but they did say it won't hurt

 

I also would like to do a cam change, I have read alot and I like the comp cam stage 1.

If there is no negative effects down low, but gain of power 4000rpm up this might be a neat poser mod for us stock shortblock blower guys.

 

Yeah blow by racing said there isn't negative effects and he did say they work great in conjunction with a blower

 

I like the fact about the hot rod cams compared to comp u can use stock phasers etc. and eveything no need to change anything just swap cams and dyno tune and ur set

 

well i think i lied after talking to comp cams i think im going with comp cams THUMPR™ NSR FORD 4.6L/5.4L MODULAR 3V CAMS with Cam Phaser Limiter Kit cam part #127010 phaser part #5449 they also sound nastier then the frpp hot rod cams

 

I am thinking about installing the Comp Cams EFI NSR stage 2 cam. Let me know how your truck performs after the install.

 

Well I talked to livernois motorsports they have comp, frpp hot rod cams, and also have there own brand and the installer said in all trucks they do they install frpp cams he said they are easier to install and don't have to add cam phaser limiters and he said they work great in the heavy trucks, he also stated that the frpp cams hit harder then then comp and he said they won't affect the durabilty and drivabilty so now I'm sold on the frpp cams and he also said the great thing any ford dealership will install these since they are a ford product

 

Please keep us updated, I want to buy a pair but don't want to lose any low end torque.
Where can I look at the FRPP cams?

 

Buyfordracing.com or google m-6550-3v that's the part number from what I've been told u won't lose anf low end but you will gain top end that's why they said use the frpp cams in our trucks

 

Yeah I have been thinking about this as well. My son just put some new ones in his Mustang GT and it sounds freakin awesome! Keep us posted!
