Warning lights

Any idea what this could mean? They came on while going down the interstate with my horse trailer, with one horse in it. ~6500 lbs.

Do you have a code scanner? I think that's an electronic throttle issue.

Yeah, that looks more like an engine than a tranny to me. The wrench light is the electronic throttle.

I guess your diesel would have gotten better mileage locked in 3rd gear turning 3k RPM to do 40mph with a horse trailer attached?

Latest word from the dealer is that when they went to replace the shift solenoid they found metal shavings in the pan, so they are pulling the tranny to find the source.

Sounds like you may get a new tranny? It sucks, but it seems like they are taking good care of you.

What's the build date on your truck? Mine is 02/07.

Har! - even on my gas-suckin' heathen Earth First pisser off'n V-10 (which I love ) I've seen only 8.9 mpg when pullin that 17k lbs plus trailer across town. Of course those lie-o-meters could be fibbin'

Yeah, I forgot that he had the V10. A diesel would have gotten better mileage towing than that, even stuck in third. I towed a car trailer from Chicago to Nashville carrying a BMW 750iL and still got 14 MPG and couldn't even tell that the trailer was there.

You don't buy a V10 to get gas mileage, you buy it to WORK.

Very true. And if you think a stock 6.4L gets better mileage, think again. I drove a 6.4L for a week prior to buying my V10. It got 13mpg in my usual routine. My V10 gets ~12.5mpg in the same conditions.

And I see plenty of folks every weekend that tow similar horse trailers to mine with stock 6.4Ls. They get about 10mpg towing.

Anyway, the truck is still in the shop with no updates.

That sucks, but at least you have your warranty to help you out. Better not let those guys from the Gooseneck\Flareside F150 thread see this. They will say serves you right for saying it's OK to tow overloaded!
