We leave ours out too, on the table in the butter tray with the lid on it.
You can always tell when I've been in it because there's always strawberry jam mixed with the butter

She gets mad but I just repeat "wasnt me" until she goes away.
Remember fellas, admit nothing, deny everything.

Started using this:

Can you really store butter OUT of the refrigerator?
Sometimes I see something in a cooking catalog that just makes sense and I want to see if it works.. That's how I felt when I read about a French Butter Bell® Crock, a traditional butter storage system that permits you to keep softened butter outside the refrigerator. I was very skeptically at first. How many times did my mother yell at me for leaving the butter out? But after reading how this French crock or "beurrier" (bur-e-ay) was used in days past before refrigeration, I thought I'd give one a try.

You may be asking why I would want softened butter available at all times. Good question. The answer is my two little girls love toast and toasted waffles with butter for breakfast. Yes, I serve them omelets and cereal, but they love their waffles and butter. Before I tried my Butter Bell crock, I would spread cold hard refrigerated butter that would often tear the waffle apart giving them reason to whine, "Daddy, your ruined my waffle!"

No more. The softened butter from the crock spreads fast, doesn't cool off their waffles and gets me smiles every morning. Did I worry about getting sick? Yeah at first but I couldn't believe they would be allowed to sell a product if it was making people sick. We've been using ours for a month now and there have been no complaints or illnesses. Of course you have to follow the manufacturers directions and keep it clean.

Out on the counter next to the toaster.....Is there any other way?

Only in our house, there are two "butter dishes". The wife can't stand real butter and loves that crap vegtable oil stuff called margarine. I on the other hand will only consume salted cream butter, the real stuff. My morning deserves only the best.

We have never worried about it cuz it all disappears faster than any sickness could come around.

Soft, warm, spreadable.....

Out, next to the toaster....used to be on a small plate until we got one of those little fancy butter dishes with a lid. We opted for a clear glass model so we could see if a new stick was needed to be "thawed" before it was too late.

My MIL puts it in the fridge when she's over for dinner, but we take it back out and put it back in it's spot next to the toaster as soon as she leaves. You'd think after 11 years she'd figure it out that the butter is ALWAYS out and soft when she eats at our house.

We leave ours out on the counter in a butter dish. There is nothing that will ruin my Sunday morning faster than tearing my toast with cold butter.

Well, I was just curious if your were alright. First you start a cool Guns thread, then this freakin butter thing..

It might fly in the V8 forum, -"Butter under the oil filler cap" ? It could work ehh ? Maybe not.
