Hyper flexed my right knee out in the woods, didn't go see the Doc for a few days, looked down and it was the size of a watermelon. Couldn't even push the gas pedal. Doc removed 97% of my medial meniscus, just left a button nub on the front of my tibia to prevent the femur from falling off!

He said it looked like hamburger.
I got a high end custom hard brace, ($2700) and still downhill ski 30 days a year. The only time it ever hurts is when I don't move it for a long time, like driving for a couple hours

or when I step down even an inch and am not ready, then the knee kinda hyper extends past straight and my eyes cross

That kinda hurts like a mother.
