Tire sizes

OK, so check it out. I have a 2wd '05 supercab flareside with level kit and procomp 17's with a little offset to them. I asked the guy at the tire shop what is the biggest tires I could run and he said 285's( running 265-70-17's now). But based on rim to tire specs, it seems like I could go to 315's. Is there some reasons why I couldn't or shouldn't?

Well, you only listed half of the tire size so I assume you mean a 315/70-17 (35x12.50). And no, you can't fit those on a 4x2 with only a leveling kit using aftermarket wheels. Without knowing the wheel specs, a 285/70-17 or 305/65-17 (33x12.50) is as large as you can go.

Yeah, 315/70/17 is what I meant, but OK thanks for the info.
