2005 rear rotor star wheel

Hi All,

Changing rotors today...I cannot get that little star wheel to move, no matter how hard I try. Anybody know how an easy way to turn the little star wheel?

star wheel? you mean the tool used to push in the caliper piston? if so your caliper is most likely seized. Was it difficult to remove the caliper?

The caliper came off easily. The rotor has not. There is a star wheel located on the backing plate behind a rubber plug, this allows access to the emergency brake adjusters.

HAHA! I just did this job over the weekend. I had to soak them in PB Blaster then I used a small flathead screwdriver to get them to turn. The rotor was just not going to come off without loosening them up too. PITA but has to be done.

Thanks exitwound. So did you put PB just around the star wheel or did you spray the whole rotor and e-brake?

I sprayed PB this week and let it sit until today. AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHH!!! Still can't turn that star wheel. Now I am wondering if I am turning it in the right direction. Working on the passenger side rear rotor, I am pushing out on the top. Is this correct?
