Custom built boxes are the best... "One size fits all" policy for already built boxes are OK, but just do not get the job done... They may be cheaper, just remember you get what you pay for...
Im building right now! Im building a box to go under my 02 ext. back seat. Single 12" sub box will go under the left side and over the center hump to get .9 cubes and amp on the other side on the floor.the box is 12.5" long and 5.25"deep.( Mounting depth!) the sub itself sits 5 1/16" deep. Its gonna be tight squeeze but it should work. Ill take pics when im done.
really the supercrewsound.com boxes can't be beat. You can get the larger boxes made for seat lifts from them also. The also use nice ID subs that match their enclosures. Either way you'll still be limited unlike guys with SUV's and teens with cars and big trunk spaces.
Custom is cool but generally means compromise for us. You can replace the center console if you have a column shift with a box depending on your model truck. You can made boxes that sit over the seat and wrap down to the floor loosing the center of the rear seat. You can make boxes over sized and take up comfortable foot space but you can balance it out to keep it bearable as I did. Photos of my setup in my gallery.
