i have searched and searched and cant find a definite answer as to what i can put on my stock 18 inch wheels with stock suspension. i have no leveling kit.i am hoping for a 33 inch tire and if you have any suggestions as to brand of tire and even model i am all ears. i do a lot of highway driving but i am on dirt roads about twice a week and do a lot of hunting. i have had my truck for a while and its almost paid off and now its time to start modding and i know its probably backwards but i need tires now and will put a lift on in the future.

If OE height, you can put on 33's, IF you have a 4x4, and use the OE wheels.

i have 33.6x12.8x18 (325/60/18) on my stock 18" lariat wheels. sme will say its dangerous, i say i have never had a problem in the 25k miles of highway and extreme offroading i have done with them

 

I am wanting to put 325/60/18 Nitto terra Grapplers on my 05 4X4 King Ranch. Have you had any problems with yours?

 

id stick with a 12.5" wide tire or less on stock rims, you might not have problems running a wider tire on them, but at the same time do you want to spend $1200 on tire and then have problems because your wheels weren't wide enough, or they were too wide and rubbered frame,etc this is ofcourse with a leveling kit.

if your not going to level, just stick with 33's

 

The problem with running a tire on a wheel that is too narrow is that the center portion of the tread can wear faster than normal, similar to running too much air pressure.

 

I wanted to put the same size on my 05 king ranch 4X4 with a leveling kit. But someone told me that they would wear out in the middle like they had to much air on stock wheels. What is your take on it?

4 years ago i picked up some Open Country AT2s 275/70R18s. Loved them and they held up very well and looked sharp on the truck. So when it came to replace them getting another set seemed like a no brainer. Well what always bothered me was the tire didn't fill the wheel well as much as I wanted, even more so after I installed a set Bilstein 5100 [That's another story] on the 2 inch level. I also wanted alittle more grip in the gravel and mud down on the Big Piney river. Looked through alot of threads and I knew it would be tight but went with:

Firestone was worried and you know when they put the tire along side my at2s I was too! I pushed through and they fit with no trim or rub. YES. I was prepare to trim, but no need and they look awesome! So yes the gas mileage went down a little and it doesn't accelerate as fast off the line, bit really...its an f150 not a mustang!

So if you have this setup rest assured 35s will fit on stock rims. Been driving on them for a few weeks, today was first wet weather. Traction is great and road noise is not bad at all. Time will tell if these hold up like the at2s they replaced.
