A shop in town is getting out of the audio biz and they have a Genesis profile 4, Arc Audio SE 2075 and a pre-DEI PPI 800/2. I want a new amp to run my 6.5 Hertz Comps. I currently have a little 4ch. alpine bridged at 100x2. I was told that for sq purposes you should not run a bridged amp for comps. because bridging puts out a mono signal. Is this accurate? If so then the Genesis won't work,
(I know Genesis amps are awesome). That leaves the Arc and PPI. The PPI is half the cost of the Arc. I was told the PPI amp has pre DEI guts but a newer cover, they purchased it during the transition period for PPI. Does this make sense? I know new PPI stuff isn't as good as the old stuff. The shop has had the amp sitting on a shelf for 2-3 years. If the guy is telling the truth about the PPI which amp, is better? Does it matter if the amp is class D or A/B? I think the PPI is class D and the Arc is class A/B. Will I notice a dramatic improvement by ditching my 4 ch. for a 2 ch. of equal power? Thanks guys for any imput. Sorry this got so winded.
