I inherited a 93 F150 5.0 Auto with 171k. The truck had been sitting on and off for about a year.

It was having fuel delivery issues Changed Filter and Pump. Started fine and ran good.

Test drove it up and down my road a few times. wanted to test some more around the block and the truck just shut off. I restarted for a quick second after I rolled to a stop. Towed it home and It restarted for another few seconds but extremely ruff idle this time.

Now it will not fire up, I am not getting spark (Took plug out and laid on metal, also plugged a plug straight into coil no spark)

I changed the Ignition module and Coil - still no spark.

Distributor cap looks new - albeit cheap looking.

Any Ideas? I hate to keep tossing parts at it..

 

hook a test light to the ground side of the coil plug. does it flash as you crank? if not its either the ignition module or the pip in the distributor(or a problem in a wire in between). if its firing up then you are getting spark for a little bit, what brand coil did you get? and ignition module? check the harness and make sure nothings obviously burnt up or whatever.

 

Both Coil and TFI are BWD from Oriely Sucks I know!!!! The Napa closed down several years ago. So its the only place within 60 miles.

Found a wiring problem coming out of my distributor, someone at one time apparently rigged up a self made anti-theft device that must have gone bad (toggle switch).. I took it out of the loop and it ran perfect tilllllllllll it ran out of fuel cause my brand new fuel pump doesn't seem to be working now. Checked the inertia switch and swapped the Relay with the horn relay and still nothing.


Geesh!!!!!!!!!!!! The two should not be on the same circuit are they?? (PIP out of Dist and Fuel)

Course finding that who knows what else is "Rigged"..

 

I'm getting 8.6v at the fuel pump and 6v at the fuel/float level anyone know if this is proper?

Battery reads 12.56v

 

Depends which color wire you're getting that on. Click my black Bronco in my sig & read the captions in the '90-96 Fuel System album.

 

When the fuel pump is on I am reading 13v out of the Brown/Pink feed. The voltages I previously listed were at a NO start state key on..

The Fuel pump is only running about 1 in 20 attempts at starting it. When it starts it runs good..

If it ever stops raining here, I think my last ditch effort is either the starter relay/fuseable link orrr the eec...

 

But the question is: which wire were the previous voltages for? Br/Pk? If so, the fault is the relay contacts. Swap it with the horn or something unimportant. You can get those Bosch/ISO relays anywhere. I collect them in junkyards, but even Wal-Mart stocks them.
