I am editing my reply after further review of the JL Audio website... if you look here:

you can see that the subs are rated for 300 watts RMS, now my amp is only turned up about 1/3 of its power... how in the heck could my voice coils possibly be toast? Am I missing something here? I would figure that with it only turned up "about" a third of the way that there are no more than 400 watts MAX going thru them...
I am not claiming to know anything about amps or subs on this matter, this is only what I had perceived from what little knowledge I have on electronics.
