Well, he did buy a $65,000 truck from Ford, and most people I know who do that buy a new one every 2 years. So for all we know Ford may have decided they make enough money off that guy to give him 2 new engines

 

That might be lol. I bet after all is said and done, he doesn't change his ways..Hell , why should he - it's working for him.

well the egr coolers on the 6.4 are the biggest problem. the are blowing out and filling the cylinder with coolant and u know the rest. but usualy you can catch it before it gets that bad. (blowing white smoke) and radiators are going out left and right but theres a recall for that. they run on high pressure fuel and you have to pull the cab to replace the pump but we havnt seen too many fail.

 

Pretty cool pictures. I wouldn't have thought that they sake off the entire cab and the bed to replace the engine.

 

Ford seems to love to take the cab off to do any form of service. Must get more labor hours in.

 

I've heard its pretty easy getting the cab off. If I had one of those lifts I would do it that way to if I ever had to R&R the engine.

 

You can count the number of body bolts holding the cab down with your two hands, that might be why they do it that way.

 

there is 6 body bolts that hold it to the frame... we just started taking the cabs off in our shop, it is much more easy..... there are a few guys that can get the cab off in 12 minutes

 

what else has to be disconnected for the cab to come off? i'm thinking it would be a mess of lines, but i could be wrong.

 

Everything that runs thru the firewall. Harness connectors in both corners (10mm).

Cab to frame grounds/ Cab to engine ground.

All easy stuff

I find it funny that no one here would think to tell Ford about this...

And you guys wonder why Ford is losing money.

Soon the next time you need an engine and Ford won't give it to you... you can thank this guy.

 

And here I would have thought that anyone who has utility needs that require such a substantial truck, that they would have the respect for it to change the dang oil.

 

Tell me about it! Jeez, I changed my oil last week, now this thread makes me wanna change it again!
