No orifice tube in my A/C system. Explain that.
Found the orifice tube. See post 5 below.
Hey everyone, maybe someone could try to explain this. As far as I was aware, there should be an orifice tube in the firewall connection for the evaporator. I have the whole A/C system apart and I can't find the orifice tube anywhere. Or at least where I thought it was supposed to be. Does anyone have any idea what's going on here?
Here's a picture.
Evaporator Tubes
There's nothing in there. Am I not looking in the right place or is the orifice tube actually missing here?
Thanks for the help.

I imagine they have done away with them due to being prone to clogging and a better mouse trap. I don't know what it is but I have some mechanic abilities and I would be in over my head doing that.
Whats wrong and what are you trying to do??

My A/C system sprung a leak at the manifold connection to the compressor. I replaced the manifold lines, the accumulator, and I'm trying to replace the orifice valve before I charge the system, but I can't find it.
UPDATE: PROBLEM SOLVED
I was looking at the hard line that runs from the evaporator to the condenser and i noticed a small squeeze in the line just before it meets up with the condenser connection. I decided to open the line there, and it turns out the orifice valve is right there.
I took a picture of where it is for other people to reference so they don't have to struggle looking for it like i did haha.

I've always had good luck with the A/C in both my Fords (02 F150 and 03 Cobra). The F150 would have been fine had the manifold line not rusted completely through.
