06 4.6 cel for an iac
06 4.6 cel for an iac
I have an 06 screw w/ the 4.6. It seems like ever since I installed an
edge, my idle has been weird, especially under load, like when the a/c is on. I keep getting a cel for iac valve not functioning properly, but I thought the 06 didn't even have an iac valve. Am I wrong? Has this happened to anyone else before? What should I do to fix it? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the help matt. Should've been more specific, my bad. As the code reads in the edge: "P0506: IAC valve duty lower than expected." I also noticed I have another one, can't recall the numbers, but it reads "OBDII Self test not completed" or something similar. I'll try rebooting and unplugging/replugging. I also think im gonna try cleaning my throttle body too this weekend. FWIW the truck has just a tick over 70000 miles.

yeah it's the P1000. How do I fix that one? By taking the edge out do you mean for good? I really like the benefits that I got from it, I'd hate to lose that.

Well i'll try it. I was planning on having my edge converted eventually anyway, I just did true duals and I will be doing a cai at some point, so if that works then I guess i'm all set. I'll also look at the throttle body too. Thanks for all your help man.
I just wanted to update that I set back to stock and unplugged the egde, and I still got the code and the off idle. Now my truck sometimes will idle very rough and stall. Then the CEL will come on. This is usually the worst when the AC is running. I do recall a few weeks ago I actually had a misfire CEL, but it only happened once, and hasn't happened since. I dont think the edge is the problem anymore. What sould I do next? By the way I hit a large deer yesterday and the truck is now in the shop (grille, hood, condenser, trans cooler, bumper, ect.) so I won't have it for about a week but I will listen to suggestions.
which cylinder misfire? do you remember the code number? do you still have cats on the truck? so you pulled the edge out and cleaned the throttle body? you may have a problem with the tb assembly itself.
I pulled the edge for a couple of days, but I still had the same symptoms I was having before. Like I said, now the truck will sometimes idle real rough and stall, but it only does that if the AC is running and I approach a stop. It seems like it starts doing it when i'm hitting the brakes for some reason, or if the steering is at full lock. I dont have this problem as bad when the AC is off. It will still sometimes be erratic, but not as extreme. I have reinstalled the edge.
I do still have my cats on. The exhaust is true dual w/ x pipe, flows, and dumps before the axle.
I wish I could give you more info, but I don't have the truck right now. An 8 point buck went right through my grille yesterday morning. I was doing 60. Got about 3500 worth of damages. When I get the truck back, I will make time to do the throttle body. Should be about a week.
I just remembered something else the truck is doing. When I turn the key, the motor starts and then bogs down like its going to die, and then revs back up to normal. Sometimes, when it's hot it will die, and I have to start it again and rev it to keep it running. What could that be?
i'm kinda thinking its something with the throttle body assembly. they are completely electonically controlled(no throttle cable), there is no iac, the pcm sends signals to the tb to make it do whatever(open or close, wot, part throttle, etc). i'd take it somewhere(preferably the dealership). did you own the truck since new? or did you buy it used and have a warranty left? its hard to help with these kinds of problems over the internet.
I bought it a year old with 25000 miles. I have an extended warranty, but I hope the chip didn't void it. I understand the difficulty over the internet, but I appreciate your help anyway.
as long as the edge isnt in it then the dealer wont really know that it was there. but if they do a flash program the edge may not go back into the truck. you may have to download something from edge, thats what my dad had to do with his superchips flashpaq.
