I have a 2004 4wd F150 Lariat that I'm looking to run 35" BFG KM2 tires on using my 18" factory wheels. I want to be able to clear them without rubbing using a level kit, but I don't want my nose being higher than my rear. Also, maybe it is just me, but my truck seems to have more of a rake to it than the 06, 07, etc. model F150 trucks I see around town. Should I use the 2" or 2.5" level kit?

 

I am interested in doing the same thing, I also notice I have more rake than the other trucks, and I have a 04 as well.

Look in the back and see if you already have a 1.5 inch block on the rear axle...I do, the last owner had a camper in there all the time and i bet he blocked it. I could be wrong...but they are there!

I am looking at a 2 inch level kit for the front as I am about to change out the shocks anyway, they are shot right now.

KingJR you need to go on ebay and look at the autospring options. They are around $80 for the same thing. That is what I'm going to do based on all the positive reviews of them on here. I just need to figure out do I need/want 2" or 2.5".

 

i put a 2.5" daystar kit on my 04 supercrew and it sit almost perfectly level less then a 1/8" difference between the wheel wells front and rear

 

4x4 4life does it sag any in the rear when towing? I'm tow a trailer a lot with two four wheelers and was wondering how things looked with that. Also, if you tow a 4wheeler in the bed does it rub any? BTW I love the license plate. My wife has the Arkansas/Ole Miss one on the front of her Tahoe.

 

A lot of people comment on my license plate. I was happy when I found it because those are my two favorite college football teams

i have not done any towing with it since i installed the kit i am sure that you would have some sag in the back when towing (nothing air bag couldn't fix)

From what I can remember reading when I was researching what size leveling kit I was going to put on

2” kit =33” tire with OEM wheels
2.5” kit=35” tire With OEM wheels

i am running 33x11.50 on my truck right now which is the way you see it in the picture

 

Its not just you, the 04's and 05's do have more rake then the later models do. I have a 04 with Bilsteins set at the 2 in setting. Front end raised a good 2 inches, but I still have just a slight rake to it. It don't look bad, to me its about right.

For a 04 and 05 I would go with a 2.5 kit. If the front is too high you can always install a AAL or go with a bigger block.

 

Not a 04-05 but here is my 07 with 35" KM2s on it, my offset is close to stock from what im told so this may give you an ideal of what your looking for. I have a 2.5 level on my truck, it looks different to me everytime i look at it, i have never took the time to measure, But hope the pic helps the driveway is going uphill towards the nose of the truck.

ya definitely look at the Auto spring kit on ebay. i got it after researching a lot and its as good as anything else out there, just way cheaper. the AS kit is definitely the most common out there and for good reason. also id suggest the 2.5 if u want it level with an 04 05. i have the 2.5 and its just about right for me. it has a slight rake but you can barely tell. also i tow a 22 foot center console that weighs about 4k pounds loaded an the truck does slightly sag but not that much, my fronts maybe an inch higher than the back when towing.

 

mine is an 05 FX4 and to me looks perfect level and i went with a 2" Auto Spring $90 a little over 2 years ago

 

Well I measured real quick today from the ground to the middle of each wheel well and I had 37" and something in the front and 40.5" in the rear. I guess I will be going with the 2.5" level kit from autospring and praying that my 35" bfg km2's dont' rub. I sure hope they don't rub at the price they cost as I think they are made of gold.

BTW KingJr I looked today and I do have a 1.5" or so block back there in the rear.

 

Well I got home last night and started looking around the forum and I am extra confused now and have possibly talked myself out of the 2.5" leveling kit. I only want enough lift to run 35x12.50R18 BFG KM2's. I called Autospring and they told me that I'd need the 2.5" for sure for a 35" tire. Can I get away with a 2" leveling kit? My dilemna is the 2.5" will work, but I don't want my rear sagging like I'm grandma at the buffet when I tow a few thousand pounds. Yes I can add the add a leaf, but I'd rather not spend $150 when I can get the 2" and run the tire I want. I found several people running my tire on the forum with a 2" but they are all 2" Bilstein leveling shocks and not 2" AS kits.

My measurements are also weird from ground to center of fender. They are off by about .5" on the right side, BUT the bumper is measuring the same from side to side. Keep in mind that I have bald 275/70R18 Maxxis Bighorns on now that were about 33.2" new, and the factor 1.5" block in the rear.

Driver front: 37.5"
Driver rear: 40.95"
Passenger front: 37"
Passenger rear: 40.5"
Driver side rear bumper: 32"
Passender side rear bumper: 32"

Those were in my parking lot at work. I measured last night in my gravel drive and they were off even more, but the ground was not level since it was gravel. Also, the bumper was level at that time, too.

Well I got the 2.5" Auto Spring level kit installed last night. It took about 2 hours to install counting the 15-20 minutes or so we spent looking for the right sockets. I also rented the 30mm from Auto Zone. Their loaner program is a great deal.

I'm measuring about 40" in the front and 40.50" in the rear all the way around now according to my friend that measured after the level kit install. That was before it was driven and aligned. I'm hoping the dealer gets my 35" KM2's in today so I can get them slapped on in a hurry!

My '04 needed 2 1/2 inches up front to clear 35's.
