can you find any paperwork on the issue so I can look into it.
Possibly scan the print out you have.

Ford has updated OASIS for each 99 & 00 Lightning. The dealer will see the information when they view OASIS. The owner notification # is O1B81.

Thumbs up

Hey Retics4me.
Thanks for sharing that great news. I've been hoping my IC would start leaking so I could replace it, then mod my L without worrying about warranty cancellation issues. Good news for the L community in the midst of tragedy and chaos. Hope I can get mine fixed before I get mobilized!

I've had my I/C on order for about 5 weeks now. I guess the parts are about to get very scarce if the recall is true. Overall, good for the community. Good thing my leak is very small.

Here you go guys, all the important info on the intercooler replacement. By the way, it's not a "recall", right now it an Owner Notification Program, and the number is 01B81.

SUBJECT: Owner Notification Program 01B81 - Certain 1999 and 2000 Model Year F150 Lightning Vehicles - Intercooler Replacement

PROGRAM TERMS:
This program will be in effect until September 30, 2002, regardless of mileage.

AFFECTED VEHICLES
Certain 1999 and 2000 model year F150 Lightning vehicles built at the Ontario Truck Assembly Plant from the beginning of production for the 1999 model year through the end of production for the 2000 model year.

REASON FOR PROGRAM
In some of the affected vehicles, the supercharger intercooler may fracture and create an internal coolant leak. If this occurs the vehicle may experience loss of engine performance at full throttle.

LOW VOLUME PROGRAM
This recall is being processed as a Low Volume Program. This type of field action was announced in an All-Dealer letter dated May 10, 1999. Owners will be contacting the Low Volume Recall Coordination Center to arrange for this service. We will advise you via MORS III of the owners that chose your dealership to perform the service provided by this Owner Notification Program. The parts will be ordered for you by the Program Coordination Center. You are requested to contact the owner and arrange for this service. (Note that our Coordination Center will advise owners that they will hear from you within the next two business days of owner contact).

This is obviously not all the recall info, but pretty much what everyone should know about it. Let me explian how it works. Since this is a "low volume program", it works different than your standard recall or program. You cannot just bring your truck in and have it fixed. What Ford is going to do, is send letters to all owners. The letters will instruct you to call the Low Volume Program hotline, and they will take your milage and VIN, and THEY will set you up with your dealer for the fix. The parts come from them. Dealers are NOT going to be able to just order parts for "stock". Dealers will only be sent the parts when a vehicle is scheduled to get the fix. This is what Ford did with the 99 Cobra recall. Basically, they are going to do it in groups of "X" amount of trucks at a time.

Hope this helps, if anyone has any questions related to this Program, I'm sure I can help.

Any of you MN Lightning owners care to share experiences with MN SVT dealers? I intend to buy a 2002 L, and would like to know who to avoid.

Would never patronize Tousley anywho, as they are a "no haggle" dealership (took them about 15 seconds to totally **** me off the one time I stopped there), and there is a very negative post about Apple Valley Ford on this site, but am curious about the other two.

Thanks.

Is the recall still in place if our trucks have been modded? Should we return them to stock, first?
