Replacing broken exhaust studs, Dorman or Ford

Guys, what studs would you use the Dorman product or the Ford stainless ones?? Also do I need to remove the Y pipe clamp to lower the down pipe. I searched but did not see any reviews on which studs to get. Thanks Mike

might as well go with the ford stainless.. i would just go ahead and replace the manifold to y pipe studs also...those are known for rusting down to nothing also. put aside a whole day for this ..some studs might break off.

Yeah, that sounds like good advice Keith. How about the down pipe, can I lower it enough or do I have to take the clamp at the y-pipe off?

shouldnt have to... take out those 2 flange studs and the manifold will come right out. no need to mess with the y pipe. your talking about replacing the mainfold studs right???

you might have to take out the starter to get to the bottom ones on that side... they are a pain.

Pull the tire and inner plastic fender and you should easy access to the studs. I spent more time soaking the studs than actually removing and replacing them.
