I have the Troyer kit on my truck. I have a switch to turn off the controllers so I can cross water and be sure that the fans are off. I also have two individual switches to turn on the fans independently of the controllers. If ever a controller fails I can turn on the fans manually. I have 2 blue LEDs to indicate that the fans are running in my dash so I can tell that they are on. I wired them to the power lead to the fan motor. If ever a fuse blows to the fans I will know because the LEDs will not turn on. I do not run an Under Drive pulley because of the supercharger. I did prior to the blower and had no ill effects. The lights did dim at idle but the alternator is fully capable of recharging the battery once under way. FYI when the lights dim you are using the battery to make up the lack of output from the alternator.
