Yeah--they called it "anti-skid," and it wasn't all that common. I don't know what kind of glitches it had or how successful it was, but mine is all there--it was easier to leave it all in place than to try to assemble it without, and it's not hurting anything by being there, if in the application it ends up in it's not connected to anything. As for what kind of signal it provided the control box, I haven't the foggiest.
