How much of a challenge to change coil packs and plugs on a 2001 f150? Is it pretty much self explanatory? Or is there an certain trick to these newer vehichles??? For the longest I drove older trucks which were no feat to change plugs and am wonderin how difficult it will be to change mine now...

 

have plenty of extensions and universal joints for your ratchet, the rear passenger side is a pain but other then that pretty self explanatory, just move anything thats in the way out of the way to make things easier. and give yourself an entire day if you havnt done it ebfore, also your coils are most likely perfectly fine and dont need to be replaced unless you are throwing a code saying you have a bad coil

 

There isn't any coil packs. So, you might have a hard time finding those lol. Geezzz..

 

i tend to read too fast some times yeah no coil "packs" but the cop's is i believe what he meant and really knows exactly what they are and where just said the wrong name

edit* he could have coil packs if its a 4.6....

 

Not on an 01 4.6L = They were upgraded to COP systems and PI heads in 01.

In 04, the heads were upgraded again, but this time it was the plug chambers. They added more plug threads.

 

Do not use antiseize on the plug threads, use only Motorcraft SP-series nickel plated plugs, and torque them to 28 ft/lb. Use dielectric grease in the COP boots.
