Best cold air intake?

So if I am reading you guys correctly, in 04+ 5.4L engines, you need a tune in order to use the Gotts intake. Can you not disconnect the battery to let the computer pick up on the added air intake? I saw that somewhere, but maybe on pre-04 engines.

I found the answer to my own question in the tech threads. I am going to do the mod this week, after a trip to Lowes.

Just seen this it is a alternative to the CAI and is similar to the Gotts mod. it is from AFE and is 200 bucks washable filter and larger intake tube

On the older (97-03) style systems, are there any real-world advantages to an aftermarket CAI vs. the Gotts mod and pulling the silencer assy from the stock intake tract?
