Interesting thread here but I vote that everybody go back to giving Shifty hell for overloading his truck. It's become a custom around here plus it's just plain fun to do.

By the way (and back to this thread) I try not to go to the max on payload or pulling capacity on my '06 F150 with a 5.4/3.55 rear gears/towing package. I'd rather haul in two loads or just get a Super Duty.

I have gone slighty over on pulling capacity but only twice totaling about 90 miles. The truck seemed to handle it better than your average 1/2 ton pickup.

Am I as naughty as Shifty? Yes and no...I've overloaded the crap out of 1/2 ton pick-ups before but I haven't done it to this paticular truck I drive now.
