The Flex 3401 DA has its own built in backing plate (standard hook and loop) which saves on cost - but limits pad options for now. I believe there is an edge adapter out there to run smaller pads, I heard Lake Country is also working on a smaller backing plate as well. The design of this backing plate ensures a true dual action motion and can support 6.5 and 7.5 inch pads.
