01 5.4l whistle, erratic/high idle

Whats up with our motor lately?

Today, the engine is whistling! Almost like a high pitched one! Then, the idle is high! And sometimes erratic, where it will go up to 1200rpms, drop to 800rpms, then up to 1100rpms, etc.

Whats up wiht this?

Sounds like you may have picked up a vacuum leak. Look for disconnected or damaged hoses, etc.

So, that's where it went...

Sent Raoul this whistle doohickey thing and told him to install it on a random truck. Now I know where he put it.

Do you happen to have a K&N? I read another post on here some time back about filter oil on the mass airflow sensor causing rough/erratic idle. I don't remember anything about a whistle, though. Just a thought.

It's not really the FIPK K&N , but a Throttle Body spacer sometimes and a larger throttle body , I have the high pitched whistle and it is due to my PowerAid spacer and also on the K&N Generation II if you take out the tube like they say to it will also whistle it is optional in the directions, if you put it back in it will help but won't eliminate it, due you have a spacer or larger mass air flow or larger throttle body
