Cool Do I have a transmission problem?

I have a lifted '05 Supercrew 4x4, 5.4, auto, 4:56 gears, 35" tires, with 75K miles. I have never had any transmission problems .

I normally get 11.5-12 miles per gallon. When I tow my 6000K boat, my milegae doesn't change much, maybe 10 mpg on a bad day. Last time I towed the boat home from the river, a 4 hour drive, I got 6 mpg.

I am perplexed about this. A friend suggested my tranny may need a rebuild, although I have had no slipping issues. I am open to suggestions.

One last thing, I have not had a transmission service or plugs or wires replaced on this truck before. At 55K, the dealer said everything was good and not to worry (tranny) until 75K. Well here I am....

I hate to give away stacks of hundred dollar bills to the dealer if not warranted.
