What Gears should i get?
Alright so the other day i drove my fathers 08 stock Super crew and it is way quicker off the line then mine and I have an intake and exhaust. I have a 2004 5.4 Screw with an H9 axle, which according to bluejay is a 3.55LS. Now the problem is I bought the truck used and it has 275/55R20's on them so the bigger tires with those gears are making it sluggish. What gearing do you guys recomend? Ive got a bit of a lead foot but i also go on some long road trips every now and again. Should i go with the 3.73 or the 4.10??
Thanks,

Honestly, I don't think 3.73 gears are enough of a change to justify the cost of having them installed. If you would like a little better get up and go with out completely ruining your freeway cruising, I say get the 4.10s.
if your gonna be paying a shop to install in a 4wd then go the 4.10s to justify the 1500-1700 bucks
otherwise i say look for a set used axles with 3.73s from a salvage yard for under 1000 and sell or trade yours to a salvage yard to recoupe some cash back.

My truck is Only 2 wheel drive and Labor is not really a problem because my buddy owns a performance shop so its on the house. My only concern is will the 4.10s ruin my highway cruising? And do they have 4.10LS?
No, highway cruising will be fine in overdrive. I think you can just keep your existing limited slip with the gear change - someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

If I could keep the LS and have the 4.10 it would be awesome! does anyone know if hes right about that?
I was confused about gears and LS too when I first started reading this forum. The "gear change" is the ring and pinion. The part of the rear end that determines if you have LS or an open rear end is the differential. Go to ringpinion.com for all kinds of info to read. I read a ton of info on that site, and realized I didn't know crap about rear ends. How many miles are on your truck? You may want to replace the clutch packs that give you your LS while they are in there. Happy reading!
Sweet thanks bro! yeah my buddy just told me that about he LS. My truck only has liuke 40k on her so shes still doing pretty good. Im leaning more towards the 4.10's i just dont want my hwy mpg to be killed
Yeah i know shes a gas guzzler i just dont want to be at like 4000 Rpm while cruisng on the freeway lol. Yeah im def going to go with the 4.10s
I have 4.10:1 in my '02 . I am now running 265/75/16 tires and rpms @ 75 mph on the freeway are about 2300 in overdrive. with 235/70/16 tires the rpms were 2500@72 mph.
I re-geared the truck a couple of years ago for towing. No complaints on gas mileage, being it is a truck. I have the 4.6 and get about 12-14 city driving and about 15-17 highway driving
