Efan Question

I went to a local junkyard and pulled a dual efan setup out of a 1996-1999 Mercury Sable. Everything is in good running order and from what I know these fans are set up as pullers. Well I get back to the house and get the stock mechanical fan off and I go to mock fit the fans and find out I can't set them up as pullers because the hub of the efans sticks out about half an inch past the shroud. So if I tried to mount them as pullers the hub of the fan would've been in full contact with the radiator and would have made it so when the fans tried to kick on, there would've been no way they could spin due to the pressure from the mounting rods holding pressure. I have them mounted so they actually pull air from the engine bay and push it through the radiator towards the front of the truck because this was the only way I could mount them. My question is this basically, is this bad and will it cause me problems? I know alot of people say that as long as you don't block the front of the radiator you'll be fine because alot of cooling will coming from just driving. I asked this same question over at V6F150.com and nobody is giving me an answer and I need to get this resolved because worrying sucks!
