I agree with your statement about the crank hp, but remember, for less than $1k, you can add more than 100 hp to that GT500 motor. A few thousand more and I can have 500 more horses. My truck is already over 500hp at the crank and it's going to take much more $$$ to get any more. In other words, I would have to build it up and have a whole lot of custom parts fabricated.
