ok guys tell me what you think!!!

i currently have 20" wheels with 4:10 gears and i cant run at the track because i top out 3rd b4 the end of the quarter mile..so i am wanting to sell my wheels and i have 2 offers from 2 different lightning owners saying they will trade me their 18" wheels with great tires but the wheels are silver and not chrome..im putting my stock 3:55's back in the rearend so i can run at the track so i was wondering if this was a good idea..if so i guess i'll be rockin silver wheels until i can either get them painted/powdercoated black..

3.55s are going to kill your 60' times.
What size tires do you run at the track?

I run 4.10s and a 30" tire at the track. and I still have room to go faster at the end of the 1/4 in 3rd gear with OD turned off.

You need to compare the roll out of the 18 and 20 tires to see what the difference is, not so much the wheels. A difference in side wall height or profile can make the same wheel size a big change. Any change in circumference will change the tune.

well see, i still have the 4r70w and not the 4r100.. so its gonna be different no matter what..with my old n20 setup with 130 less hp i hit overdrive at the track with my 20's (275/45/20)..so no matter what i have to change the gears..cause im def gonna hit overdrive way sooner now..even with my shift points which used to be 4800 with bottle to now 5600rpms..

i may lose a lil in the 60ft, but i now also have the 2900rpm stall which i didnt have when i was using the bottle..so ill gain way more top end time since it'll be one less gear, and overdrive being the weakest gear at that..the plan was to get lightning wheels with their stock..295/40/18 i believe, i may be wrong on the size, but i have a set of 16x10 wheels and im getting 28/10.50/16 mt et slicks for those to use at the track..

to ONELOWF: i understand it will change the tune but im sure it will be minimal, and the speedo change im not worried about as my programmer can adjust for that

You are not supposed to have the OD on!
How are you going to hit it if it's turned OFF?

Boss, I think the '01-'02 Lightning wheels would look nice on your truck if they were chromed or at least had the polished lip like your current wheels have

if you're going back to the 3.55's I'd try that before I changed wheels

5600 rpm with 4.10: gears and 30 inch tires in third is about 122 mph. With 28s and 3.55s should give you about 10mph more to play with.

Both the 4R100 and the 4R70W have a 1:1 3rd gear ratio. if you look up http://www.4lo.com/4LoCalc.htm Fourth one down gives you speed for RPM based on gears and tire diameter.

In your example you will only trap faster than 110.8 if you rev higher. If you are running out of gear before reaching the end of the track you need to chose what to do to correct it. Shifting into 4 seems like a waste of time. It takes time to shift and you are not accelerating while shifting. What you need to figure out is how to be close to redline in 3rd gear at the end of the track. What rpm are you at when you finish?
