Bedliner: Thoughts & Opinions Wanted

Alright, last summer I tried to do a "Do-It Yourself" spray on bedliner. It was more of a roll on really (Harbor Freight Special...). So, I guess I didn't prep it very well, but it's starting to come off. ..it looks like complete crap. Anyway, I'd love to put in a bedrug, but I'm afraid to do that with out a bed cover. So, I found an OEM Ford drop-in plastic liner on Craig's List.

See Pics:

My worries with Drop-In's (and this is more of what I'm asking, seeing as I've had no experience with them), Is that the plastic rubs against the metal and causes the paint to wear away and rust will start.

One thought that I had to prevent this, is to take some rubber strips and put them in the lower parts of the bed:

Horrible edit, I know but hopefully you'll get the idea.

Thoughts?
Opinions?

Good idea/waste of time?

Thanks!
