I've got the Liberator 255/70/16 stock size tires on my truck; I bought the truck used but I think the tires are okay. My truck is 2wd, not 4wd, so I will more than likely consider the Continental brand tire that advertised 80k mile vs the Liberator 40k mile tire. For $80 more for the set, I get twice the miles. Good trade.

As long as you get what you expect, and a little more sometimes, noone can fault your decision.

While I'm not the biggest fan Wal-Mart's tire and lube express, its hard to beat their prices. I have seen many trucks in my area on Liberators and they look good to me. At $78 for 255/70R16 and $10 for mounting its hard to beat. I had a set Michelins on a Ranger and loved them but in this size they're twice as much as the Liberators. Tirerack has good prices but when you factor in the shipping costs the value declines. Discount tire is comparable to Wal-Mart in cost of tire but twice as much to mount. Notice the new Liberators say Uniroyal Liberator so I guess we know who's behind the tires and the warranty is now up to 50K.

 

Kind of a ridiculous comment. Most no name tires are made by the big manufacturers and just rebranded. You think Walmart makes tires? NO Every major retailer works out deals with vendors to provide products with the retailers logo.

 

I had liberators on my '83 F-150 (15 Inch AT's) and they didnt last for ****, when I was purchasing those tires though the wal mart guy told me these tires were made by BFG so, however long run I wasnt happy with 'em. If you have a costco in your area the $40 membership is a hell of a deal and they sell big name tires pretty damn cheap, not too sure what it costs for mount/balance but the tires them selves dont cost much

I rocked 'em on my heavy **** bronco. Not the greatest off road but no complaints on road and I am sure like most A/T's they would be good on trails.

Some people have different budgets if money wasn't an issue I would get a better tire but when money is tight and you want something inexpensive they will work. I was in the same boat needed some inexpensive Mud Terrains while I save for my lift etc so I got Buckshots, they are not as good as BFG's or Super swampers or Mickey T's etc but for what I need right now they work find. All up to you.

Your Not gonna get 60K out of them but that is why they are priced like they are. I have seen no reason that I would give to prevent me from buying them.

I am into Off Road tires and I saw one at Wal-Mart yesterday that I thought looked awsome just not my size.

 

Hello All. I have a 2005 F150 4x4. The original tires are Hankook 235/75/R17's which at 54,000 miles they need to be replaced. I'm thinking about going with WalMart's 265/70/R17 Liberators. What are your thoughts about this tire and change in tire size?

Most of my driving is on streets and the interstate, however I do a lot of hunting and fishing and driving to and from our cabin. I mention this because I need something with great traction in mud and snow in addition to something that drives well on pavement.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

 

If you don't mind dealing with the idiots at Wal-Mart.

My ex put some on her Ranger at the local Wal-Mart. They never could get them balanced correctly. Tried several times. I took the truck to another shop in town. They said they were too out of round to balance. I've been dealing with this place for years, so I believe them. Went back to Wal-Mart, talked to the head service guy, he would not help me. Called the Wal-Mart customer service line, they would not help either. So I finally had it, went to the local tire place and had new tires put on.

I think the Liberator's are good tires, I just got a bad set. Heck, I had 2 bad tires on my 150 when I drove it off the lot. I see lot's of people around here running them.

Another story about Wal-Mart. My family had an old car that was passed down to me when I turned 16. My dad had tires put on at Wal-Mart. Everytime I went in there to get them rotated and balanced they would break a lug stud. Everytime!

I despise that place.

 

My dad has some 285 liberators on his 2001 expy, they got a good 15k on them, good tires IMO. Last winter we went up to the mountains and caught a blizzard before we headed down. We made it down despite not being able to see the road or not having any chains. My uncle was a few minutes behind us in his Jeep, he slid off the road into an embankment as soon as he hit the road. Those tires hold up just as good in mud. They look just as new as the day we got 'em.

 

I just replaced my 2nd set of them (got 54,000 miles out of them!) so needless to say, I'm happy withem for the dollar. These new ones are the Uniroyal brand, so I expect them to be as good or better than the last ones. The key, as with any tire, is proper pressure and rotation! It makes a huge difference. The original owner of my truck (I.m the 2nd) Had Michlins on it but never rotated or checked them, they were trash at 22,000 miles! I got about 45,000 out of the 1st set of Liberators, and 54,000 out of the 2nd set. But as with all tires, the price jumped from $96 for 2nd set, to $145 for 3rd set for the 285's.

 

2001 to 2009! That has got to be a record!
